Enrique Hernández works with the figure, objects and everyday forms, paying close attention to how they change under pressure, weight, tension or distortion. Bodies, gestures and folds become sites where contradiction, instability and ambiguous emotional states begin to surface.Material plays an active role in this process. Enrique removes and reapplies charcoal, mixes gouache or oil with resins and powders, and uses water-based media on impermeable surfaces, allowing form to emerge through accumulation, erasure, dragging and abrasion. Texture therefore becomes something physically constructed rather than merely depicted, shifting familiar scenes towards the psychological, the symbolic and the quietly surreal.

Teaching and workshops
 

Enrique teaches drawing and painting with a focus on gesture, structure, observation and material exploration. He offers individual sessions by request and leads group workshops exploring expressive approaches to line, form, texture and the human figure.His teaching has included life-drawing workshops at Tindalls Art, Cambridge, where he led The Expressive Line in Life Drawing in 2026, as well as individual tuition.
 

Artistic development
 

Enrique is largely self-taught, developing his practice through sustained independent study, life drawing, and collaborative studio environments. His artistic development has been shaped by studies at The Art Academy of London, alongside periods of study and creative exchange within international institutions and artist communities through collaborations.
